Who We Are

Tropic Legacy is a skateboarding company made in Dar es Salaam, inspired by the tropical coast of Tanzania and its islands. Founded by skateboarders in 2018 with a goal of supplying Tanzanian local skate community with skateboarding equipments. 

We realized we cannot depend on foreign donation to keep us going in our community and its not sustainable longterm. We also liked the idea of designing our own brand and boards. The fact that we can make litterally anything is very exciting.

What We Do

We spent quite a lot of time thinking and rethinking our product strategy. The truth is, we didn't want to become a fast fashion brand that makes products just for sales. We wanted to become enviromentally conscious and sustainable to reduce ecological footprint. 

At Tropic Legacy, we make skateboarding merchandise from skate decks to clothing made from 100% organic cotton and upcyclying high quality garments locally known  as "Mitumba" which are then re-designed and modified by skateboarders in Dar es Salaam.

A Traceable Supply Chain

Ours is Unique because it is entirely Made in Africa, except for modified ''Mitumba" which are locally sourced in second hand markets in Tanzania. Our T-shirts are 100% organic cotton produced and made in Tanzania. All cutting, sewing and finishing is done in local factories, keeping our carbon footprint low. The graphics are then designed and printed by skateboarders in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

We remain commited to Made in Africa label, responsible manufacturing, always putting people, communities and the planet first.
